If a tree in your Sparkhill garden has become too big, too close to the house or simply unwanted, we can take it down safely and tidily. We fell trees that are dead, diseased, leaning, storm damaged or overgrown, and we clear the timber and green waste afterwards so you are left with a usable space rather than a mess.
Most Sparkhill homes are Victorian terraces and bay-fronted houses with small to medium rear gardens, so the way a tree comes down matters as much as the decision to remove it. We plan every job around the space available and the access to your garden.

Along the Stratford Road and the streets around it, a tree can stand only a few steps from a back wall, a neighbour's fence or a conservatory. In that situation we rarely drop a tree in one piece. Instead we climb and dismantle it in controlled sections, lowering each piece on ropes so that nothing lands on roofs, outbuildings or the plants you want to keep.
Narrow side access is common in Sparkhill, and it shapes how we work. Timber has to be carried or passed through the house or side passage, so we cut it into manageable lengths and bring only the equipment we need. Please tell us about gates, steps, low branches over the path and parked cars when you get in touch, because it helps us plan the day properly.

Not every tree needs to come down. Sometimes a good prune is enough, and we will say so honestly. Felling makes sense when a tree is dead or dying, has a split trunk or a lean that is getting worse, has roots lifting paving or pressing on a wall, or has simply outgrown a small Sparkhill garden and blocks the light from your windows. It is a decision worth making calmly.
Before any work begins, it is worth checking whether the tree is protected. A tree preservation order or conservation area status can mean the council must agree first, and we suggest you ask them before booking. We can talk you through what to ask. If a tree is dangerous after a storm, tell us straight away, as we treat that as an emergency. Our advice is simply practical.
Once the tree is down we cut the timber into logs if you want to keep them, or take it away with the green waste. The stump can be left low, or ground out by arrangement if you plan to replant or lay a patio. We also cover Hall Green and Tyseley, so if a neighbour near you in Sparkhill needs a tree dealt with too, just ask.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

Yes, this is one of the most common jobs we do in the area. We take the tree down in small sections, lower each piece carefully and carry the timber out by hand. We will look at the passage and any gates when we assess the job.
Only if the tree has a preservation order or stands in a conservation area. Many garden trees have neither, but it is worth checking with the council before work starts. If permission is needed, it is much better to apply first than to cut and regret it.
We can cut the stump down low and leave it, or arrange for it to be ground out, depending on what you plan for the space. Stump grinding needs access for equipment, so we check the route into your garden before agreeing a method with you.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
