Harborne has some of the biggest garden trees in south-west Birmingham, and sooner or later one of them has to come down. We fell trees of every size here, from a worn-out conifer at the back fence to a storm-damaged oak leaning over the house, taking each one down in a controlled way.
Before any cutting starts we look at the tree, the ground around it and what sits underneath. We tell you plainly whether it needs to go, whether a smaller job would do instead, and what needs checking with the council first.

Many Harborne houses are Victorian or inter-war, with long gardens that have been left to grow for decades. Trees planted close to the house often end up too big for the plot, with roots near drains and branches over the roof. Where there is room, we can fell a tree in one piece. Where there is not, we climb and take it down in sections.
Each section is lowered on ropes rather than dropped, so lawns, patios, greenhouses and neighbouring fences stay clear of damage. Tall boundary hedges and tight side access are common in Harborne, so we plan the route for timber and equipment before the first cut. Ground protection goes down where it is needed, and we work around anything you want kept. Neighbours are told in advance where work touches a shared boundary.

Parts of Harborne sit inside conservation areas, and some individual trees carry a tree preservation order. In either case the council normally needs to be told, or to give consent, before a tree is felled. Doing the work first and asking afterwards can lead to a heavy fine, so this check always comes first, before a date is put in the diary.
We can tell you which trees are likely to need permission and help you work out what to ask the council for. If a tree is dead, dying or dangerous there are separate rules that still need following. We will explain which applies to your tree, so you are not guessing or relying on what a neighbour once did. A short phone call usually settles it.
Once the tree is down we cut the timber into logs you can keep for a stove or fire, or we take it away with the green waste. The stump can be cut low, or ground out by arrangement if you plan to lawn or build over the spot. We also cover Edgbaston and Bearwood, so Harborne neighbours are welcome to ask about a shared job.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

It depends on the tree. Trees in a conservation area or covered by a tree preservation order usually need council consent or notice first. We can help you check the status of your tree before booking, so nothing is cut that should not be.
Yes. We take it down in sections, lowering each piece on ropes so the roof, conservatory and fences are not hit. We look at the tree first and agree the method with you, and we tell you if anything about it needs extra care.
We can leave the stump cut low, or grind it out by arrangement if you want the space for a lawn, patio or new planting. Tell us what you plan for the spot and we will suggest the right option.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
