Family houses in Northfield often have sizeable gardens, and over time the conifers and hedge trees in them can grow far beyond what anyone planned. If a tree in your garden is blocking light, threatening the house or has simply become too much to manage, we can take it down safely and clear the site afterwards.
We begin by looking at the tree and the space around it, then explain what we would do and why. Where felling is not needed, we say so. Where it is, you will know how it will be done and what to expect before we start any cutting.

Inter-war and later houses in Northfield are often fronted or screened by conifers and tall hedges, planted as quick cover and then left alone. Left unchecked, they reach a height that blocks daylight, dries the soil and makes the garden feel smaller. Felling them returns the light, and it is a straightforward way to reset the whole plot. It often makes a big difference to the house too.
A conifer cut back into bare wood will not grow back, so trimming is rarely the answer once one has become too big. We fell and remove it, whether it is a single tree or a whole row, then discuss what to do with the space. Many people replace a screen with fencing, a lower hedge or open lawn. We can suggest options.

Even a sizeable Northfield garden can be awkward to work in when a tree stands next to a conservatory, a garage or the boundary fence. We climb and remove the tree in sections, lowering each piece on ropes. That keeps the work precise and protects the structures around it, which matters most close to the house. Every section is controlled from start to finish.
Safe access is part of the plan. We look at how timber will be carried out, where it can be stacked and how the ground will cope. For gardens near Victoria Common or other open green areas, we also check whether any public land or protected tree is affected, since the council has a say in some cases. We will tell you if anything needs a second look.
We cut the timber into logs for you to keep or take it away, and the branches and leaves go as green waste. The stump can be left low or ground out by arrangement. If you are in Longbridge or Rubery rather than Northfield itself, we also cover those areas and can arrange a visit in the same way.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

If it has outgrown its place, felling is usually the better choice. Conifers rarely regrow from bare wood, so a hard cut leaves them looking poor. We can look at the tree and tell you honestly which option makes sense.
We take care to avoid it. Sections are lowered on ropes rather than dropped, and we use ground protection where needed. Heavy timber is carried out by a planned route so your lawn, paving and borders are looked after.
Yes. We fell and clear them as one job, working along the row and checking the boundary and neighbours first. Afterwards we can talk through fencing or planting to replace them, if you want a new screen. We leave the boundary clear.
