Yardley's inter-war semis and bungalows often come with long back gardens, and over the decades those gardens have filled with tall conifers and mature trees. They offer privacy, but they can also swamp the plot. We carry out tree surgery in Yardley, including reductions, thinning, removal of dead wood and the sectional dismantling of trees that have grown too large.
Tell us which tree is causing you concern and we will look at it, then explain the safest sensible option. If the answer is a light trim rather than a big job, we will say so. It helps to tell us how far the tree stands from the house and any gate or path in between.

Conifers are often planted small as a screen, and a few seasons later they are well above the fence. Left alone they cast deep shade, drop needles over the lawn and take moisture from the soil. In a Yardley garden a row of tall conifers can also be heavy enough to worry people when the wind gets up. That makes it worth looking at early rather than late.
Many conifers will not regrow from bare wood, so cutting them back hard may leave permanent brown patches. We tell you what can be trimmed and what cannot. Often the neatest result is to take the whole row down and replace it with something lower and easier to manage over the long term. Replacement with a hedge or a smaller tree can look neat within a short time.

A long garden is a mixed blessing. The tree may stand a long way from the road, but the route from the house is often narrow, and moving timber by hand is slow work. We plan the route first, so that logs and brash can be carried out without damaging the lawn, borders or any paving you have laid in Yardley. We keep that route clear and protected throughout.
At the tree, we climb and take it apart in sections, lowering each piece on ropes. This protects the house, any bungalow roof and the neighbours' fences. Where several trees need attention, we can work through them in a sensible order so the job is not dragged out and the garden is not disrupted for longer than necessary. Nothing is left leaning or half cut at the end of a visit.
Part of Yardley falls within the Yardley Old Village conservation area, and trees there may need notification to the council before cutting. A Tree Preservation Order can also apply elsewhere. We check both for you at the start. We look for nesting birds and cables, and clear all waste afterwards. We also cover Acocks Green, Stechford and Sheldon.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

Normally the council must be told before you cut or remove a tree in a conservation area, and a Tree Preservation Order has stricter rules. We check the position with the council before starting, so you are not caught out.
Sometimes. If it has green growth to cut back to, we can trim the sides and lower it a little. Many conifers do not regrow from bare wood, so heavy cutting can leave gaps. If it is too far gone, removal and replanting is more sensible.
We carry it by hand, or in barrows, along the clearest route, protecting the lawn and borders as we go. Smaller material is chipped on site. Longer logs are cut to manageable lengths, and the whole route is cleared and swept at the end.
