Handsworth has large Victorian houses, older terraces and some very big mature trees, and when one of them dies, splits or starts to lean, it needs dealing with safely. We carry out tree felling here and take care over the access, the neighbours and the paperwork the council may require.
We look at the tree, tell you honestly whether it should come down, and if it should, agree the method with you. Timber is logged, green waste is cleared and the garden is left tidy once the work is finished.

Victorian houses in Handsworth often sit beside tall, broad trees that have been growing for generations. Limes, sycamores, horse chestnuts and large conifers can have wide crowns and heavy limbs, and the damage they can do if something fails is serious. That is why we plan these jobs thoroughly and never cut corners just to save a little time on the day.
A tree that size usually has to be dismantled in sections, lowered on ropes and cut into logs on the ground. We look at roofs, conservatories, outbuildings, shared walls and the road, then set up the work so each piece goes where we intend it to go. We also tell you early if we spot any decay in the trunk or the roots.

Parts of Handsworth lie within conservation areas, and individual trees may be protected by preservation orders. Before felling, it is worth contacting the council, giving the address and describing the tree in some detail. If consent or notice is needed, it is far better to have it in hand than to start work and then be told to stop halfway through the job.
Terraced streets bring their own challenges, with small yards, shared boundaries and little room to work. We keep sections small, protect surfaces and carry the timber out by the safest route, which is often through the property. Neighbours are wise to be told in advance, and we can explain the plan to you so you can pass it on to them easily.
When a Handsworth tree has been felled, we cut the timber into logs for you to keep or have removed, and we clear the brash and green waste. The stump can be left low or ground out by arrangement. We also cover Perry Barr, Great Barr, Smethwick, West Bromwich and Hockley from our base in Hall Green, Birmingham.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

You may, but check first. Some Handsworth streets are conservation areas, and a tree can also be protected on its own. Contact the council with the address and the tree's details, and wait for its answer before you arrange any work.
We climb it and remove it in sections, lowering each one on ropes so nothing swings into the walls, roof or glass. Ground staff keep the area below clear and move the timber out as it comes down.
It is a good idea. Felling is noisy, and we may need access from, or checks along, a shared boundary. A short word beforehand avoids upset, and we can tell you when the work is likely to start.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
