Stourbridge has plenty of mature trees, and sooner or later one of them outgrows its spot. We fell trees that are dead, diseased, leaning, storm damaged or simply too large for the garden, working carefully around houses, fences and neighbours. Large conifers and firs are a regular part of what we take down in the town.
Whether you live in a period house near the canal or on a 20th century estate, we start by looking at the tree, the ground around it and the way in. Then we explain how we would take it down and what will be left behind when we have finished.

With the Clent and Hagley hills close by, many Stourbridge gardens are on a slope, and that changes how a tree should be felled. Footing is less certain, ropes need to be anchored with more thought, and cut sections can roll if they are not controlled. We plan each cut so that timber stays where we put it, and we use rigging to lower larger pieces rather than letting them fall.
On steep ground we also think about where the logs will go afterwards. Stacking them on a bank is rarely sensible, so we either move them to level ground, cut them to a size you can use, or take them away. If the slope is behind the house, tell us about any retaining walls or steps so we can work around them. That keeps the job safe for us and tidy for you.

Older parts of Stourbridge have large trees standing close to period houses, and roots and branches can affect walls, drains and roofs. A tree may be perfectly healthy yet still be in the wrong place. We will tell you plainly whether felling is the right answer or whether pruning would solve the problem, because removing a tree is not something you can undo. An honest answer is better than a quick sale.
Some trees here may be covered by a preservation order, and some gardens sit in conservation areas, so please check with the council before booking. Gardens close to the Stourbridge Canal can also have awkward access along towpaths or narrow lanes, and we need to know about that early. Describe the route to us, and we will bring the right equipment for it. That keeps the day running smoothly.
When the felling is done we clear the branches, chip or remove the green waste and cut the trunk into logs if you would like to burn them. The stump can be left low, or ground out by arrangement if you want a lawn or patio there. We also work in Wollaston, Amblecote and Pedmore, as well as around Stourbridge itself.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

We climb the tree and remove it in sections, using ropes to lower each piece under control. On a slope we position anchor points carefully and move the timber to level ground. Nothing is allowed to roll or drop onto your house, fence or neighbours.
Yes. Tall conifers and firs are a common job for us. We take them down in sections from the top, then deal with the trunk and stump. Tell us roughly how close it stands to buildings and boundaries, and we can plan the safest way.
It is sensible to. Dudley Council can tell you whether a tree has a preservation order or whether your property is in a conservation area. If either applies, permission is usually needed first, so ask before you book any work.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
