Selly Oak has grown up around large trees, and plenty of them are now past the point where a trim will do. When a tree in your garden is dying, unsafe or simply too big for its plot, we can fell it carefully, whether you own a family home, a landlord property or a student let.
We start by looking at the tree in person and explaining what we would do. If part of the job needs the council's agreement, we say so before any date is booked. You will know the method, the tidying and the timber arrangements before cutting starts.

Selly Oak has Victorian terraces, but it also has larger villas with deep gardens, and the trees in those gardens can be very old and very tall. A mature oak, beech or horse chestnut can dominate a plot, and when one starts to fail it is a serious matter. We assess the condition before any decision is made about felling. That judgement comes first, before any ropes go up.
Where a tree has to come down, we dismantle it from the top in manageable sections, lowering each piece on ropes. This is slower than dropping a tree whole, but it protects the villa, the garden walls and the neighbouring properties. Large trees also create plenty of timber, which we cut up and clear in an orderly way. Nothing is rushed or left half done.

Some parts of Selly Oak are conservation areas, and trees there are protected from being felled without notice to the council. The canal and Bournbrook Brook corridors also hold many mature trees, some of which may carry restrictions. Before we agree a date, we advise you to confirm what applies to your tree and to make contact with the council early. It saves delays later.
Ground near waterways can be soft and uneven, and boundaries may back onto towpaths or shared land. Our plans allow for that, including where timber is lowered and how it is carried out. We never put debris or timber onto land that is not yours, and we protect the edges so nothing slips toward the water. Please tell us about any shared walls or rights of way.
Many homes in Selly Oak are rented, so we are used to dealing with landlords, agents and tenants, as long as the owner has agreed to the work. Afterwards we log the timber or take it away, and the stump can be left low or ground out by arrangement. We also cover Bournville and Edgbaston if you are just outside Selly Oak.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

Yes. We can work with the owner or agent and arrange access with the tenants. We need the owner's agreement to fell, and we check any council restrictions before the date is set, so the job runs smoothly.
Some may be, depending on who owns the land and whether a preservation order or conservation area applies. Trees on canal or council land are not yours to fell. We can help you work out who is responsible.
We climb and take it down from the top in sections, lowering each piece on ropes. That avoids damage to the house, walls and borders. We plan the access and where timber will be stacked before cutting begins.
