Tree Felling in Yardley - J and Son Trees and Landscapes

Tree Felling in Yardley, East Birmingham

Yardley is full of inter-war semis and bungalows with long back gardens, and many of those gardens hold mature trees and tall conifers. When one grows too big, loses its health or starts leaning, we can take it down safely and clear everything afterwards. It is a job we are happy to explain.

We look at the tree from the ground and the way in before we say how we would do it. Then we explain the plan in plain terms, covering where timber will go, which areas we protect and what you will have left when we leave.

Tree Felling in Yardley

Long gardens, long carries

Tree Felling in Yardley

A long Yardley garden gives us room to work, but it also means the tree may be a good distance from the road. Carrying timber and waste from the bottom of a long garden to the front takes time and care, particularly through side gates or past a bungalow. We plan the route, protect lawns and borders and keep loads manageable. Please tell us about gate widths and any steps.

If the tree stands near the house, the same long garden may give us space on the far side to lower sections safely. That is useful with conifers, which can be very tall and heavy near the base. We take them down from the top, keep the cuts tidy and avoid dropping heavy pieces anywhere you would prefer to leave undisturbed. The aim is a controlled job with no damage to the garden.

Tree Felling

Conifers, old trees and Yardley Old Village

Tree felling for Yardley homes

Many Yardley gardens have leylandii and other tall conifers that were planted for privacy and became enormous. They block light, dry the soil and can be hard to manage. If you want yours gone, felling and stump work are straightforward, though the volume of green waste can be large and the clear-up takes time. Tell us how high the hedge is and where it stands in relation to the house.

The Yardley Old Village area is a conservation area, so trees near it may need notice to the council before work begins, and some carry protection of their own. If you are near the church or the old village, please check with the council first. Away from it, many ordinary garden trees are free to remove, though it is still sensible to ask. Both routes are simple to arrange.

Yardley

A tidy finish

Once a tree is down we cut the trunk into logs if you want them and take away the branches, chippings and green waste. The stump can be left low or ground out by arrangement. We also work in Acocks Green, Stechford and Sheldon, so if you are around Yardley or just beyond it, get in touch. We are happy to talk through any of it.

FAQs

Common Questions

Can you remove a tall leylandii hedge from my Yardley back garden?

Yes. We take tall leylandii down in sections from the top and clear the brushwood. The stumps can be cut low or ground out. It is worth thinking about what you want in its place, such as fencing or new planting.

Is Yardley Old Village a conservation area for tree work?

Yes, Yardley Old Village is a conservation area, so notice to the council is usually required before work on trees there. Check with Birmingham City Council about your address if you are anywhere near it before booking. We can describe the work to help.

How do you deal with the waste from a large conifer?

We cut it into manageable lengths, chip the smaller branches where suitable and take the green waste away. Large conifers produce a lot of material, so we plan the clear-up as carefully as the felling itself. That includes any chipped material.
