Birmingham has a great many trees, on its streets, in its parks and in back gardens, and every so often one of them has to come down. We carry out tree felling across the city for dead, diseased, leaning, storm-damaged or overgrown trees, as well as healthy ones that are simply in the wrong place.
Because the city is such a mix of housing, no two jobs are quite alike. We start by looking at the tree and its surroundings, explain the safest way to remove it, and leave the timber and green waste cleared when the work is finished.

Birmingham runs from Victorian terraces with small rear yards to inter-war suburbs, tower-block areas and leafy roads with big villas. The same tree problem looks very different in each. A sycamore that seeded itself against a terrace wall needs careful dismantling piece by piece, while a mature tree in a larger suburban garden may have more space to be worked on safely.
We think about what sits beneath and beside the tree before deciding how to take it down: roofs, conservatories, sheds, fences, overhead cables and neighbouring plots. Where nothing can safely be dropped, we climb and lower sections on ropes. Where there is a clear fall, a whole-tree fell may be possible, and we will tell you plainly which of the two applies to your garden.

A lot of Birmingham sits inside conservation areas, and individual trees across the city can also be covered by a preservation order. That means you may have to tell the council, or ask for permission, before a tree is cut down. It is a quick check to make, and it protects you from breaking the rules without realising it, which can otherwise lead to real trouble.
We advise every customer to look into this first, especially if the tree is large, old or forms part of a street scene. If the council says the tree is protected, we can talk through other options, such as reducing it rather than felling it. Whatever we do stays within what the council has agreed to in writing, and nothing starts before then.
Once a tree is down in Birmingham, we log the timber so you can keep it or have it taken away, and we remove the brash and green waste. Stumps can be left low or ground out by arrangement, depending on what you want to do with the space. We also cover Edgbaston, Harborne, Moseley, Kings Heath and Erdington.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

Start with Birmingham City Council, which holds the details of tree preservation orders and conservation areas. Give them the address and a short description of the tree and the work you want. If the council needs a formal notice or application, wait for its answer before any felling takes place.
Yes. Small gardens are very common here, and we take trees down in sections, lowered on ropes, so they never swing into fences or windows. We will check access first, because the timber often has to be carried through the house or along a shared passage.
The timber is cut into logs and either stacked for you if you want it for a burner or taken away with the green waste. Tell us your preference before we start, and we will leave the garden clear and tidy either way.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
