Smethwick sits on the Birmingham border, and its Victorian terraces and inter-war streets often have small to medium gardens where one big tree can dominate everything. If yours has grown too large, is diseased or has been damaged by weather, we can take it down carefully and clear everything away afterwards.
We start with a visit to see the tree, the access and the neighbouring properties. Then we explain how we would do the work, what happens to the timber and which permissions might be needed. You make the decision with the full picture in front of you.

Smethwick has a strong canal heritage, and trees line many of the waterways and back onto gardens. Those canal-side trees are often self-seeded, tangled and larger than they look from below. Some stand on towpath or waterway land that does not belong to the householder, so ownership has to be settled before anyone cuts. If you are unsure where your boundary runs, check your deeds or ask the waterway owner before booking us.
For trees that are in your own garden, we plan the felling to keep everything away from the water and the boundary. We lower each section on a rope, and we make sure no timber, leaves or sawdust slide toward the bank. Soft ground near the waterside is allowed for, with careful footing and clear stacking points. The aim is a calm job that leaves the bank as we found it.

Victorian terraces and inter-war houses in Smethwick tend to have fairly short gardens, so a tree there has little room to fall. We dismantle it from the top in small sections, each roped and lowered. That protects fences, sheds, parked cars and the house itself, and it works just as well in a garden with no side access. Each cut is planned so the weight never swings back toward you.
If a tree is touching a wall or leaning toward a neighbour, we look at the structure of the trunk and the roots before working out how to take it down. Near Victoria Park and some of the older streets, a conservation or preservation order may apply, and we advise you to check this with the council first. We also look for overhead cables and shared fences before the first cut.
After the tree is down we cut the wood into logs you can keep or take it away, along with the branches and green waste. The stump can be left low or ground out by arrangement. We also cover Oldbury and Bearwood, so if you are close to the edge of Smethwick, ask us to look at your tree.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

It depends where the boundary lies. A tree on towpath or waterway land belongs to whoever manages that land, not to you. A tree wholly inside your fence is yours. Check your boundary before arranging any felling. We can help you check.
Yes. We climb and take it down in small sections, lowering each on a rope, so fences and sheds are not hit. Small gardens need more planning, not a different standard of care, and we explain the method beforehand.
Sometimes the rules differ for dead or dangerous trees, but notice may still be needed, especially in a conservation area. We can help you check what applies before the tree comes down, so you are not caught out by the council afterwards.
