Dudley is a town of hills, and its gardens reflect that, with steep lawns, banks, retaining walls and trees that grow at awkward angles. We carry out tree surgery in Dudley for trees that need reducing, thinning, clearing of deadwood or removing altogether, and we plan each job around the slope and the space available.
Some parts of the borough are wooded, with limestone ground and self-sown trees that have grown up next to houses. Whatever the situation, we look at the tree first, explain what we would do, and make sure you understand the work before any cutting begins.

Older terraces and later estates around Dudley often have small gardens that rise or fall behind the house. A tree growing on the bank above you can send heavy branches over the roof, while one at the bottom of the garden may lean out toward the lower neighbour. Both need careful judgement about where weight sits and how it will move once cut.
We usually climb rather than use ladders on sloping ground, and we rope each section down to a safe spot. That stops timber rolling, keeps the work predictable, and protects fences, sheds, glass and the next-door garden from damage while the tree is made smaller or taken down. Where space is tight, we also protect the ground beneath the tree so that patios, steps and flower beds come through the job unmarked.

Where Dudley gardens meet wooded land, trees seed themselves and shoot upwards quickly. They compete for light, grow tall and thin, and may shed branches onto the garden. Thinning the worst ones, taking out dead stems and reducing anything leaning toward the house can make the plot far safer without clearing everything. Often the right answer is a measured reduction instead of clearing the lot, since it keeps some screening.
Sometimes removal is the better choice, particularly if a tree is hollow, dead or heavily weighted on one side. We dismantle it in sections, chip the smaller branches and cut the trunk to manageable lengths. If a tree has been damaged in the wind, tell us, and we will treat it as an emergency where needed. Anything we cut is cleared properly, with no half-finished stacks left behind.
Dudley has conservation areas and protected trees, so we check with the council before cutting and tell you what the position is. We also watch for nesting birds and overhead lines, and we cover Brierley Hill and Netherton as well. Timber and green waste are taken away at the end, and we leave the garden as tidy as we found it.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

Yes. We climb it and take it down in small sections, lowering each piece with ropes so it cannot roll down the slope. Before starting we check the ground, nearby walls and boundaries, then agree a plan for where the pieces go.
That depends on who owns the land and where the trunk stands. A tree on your side of the boundary is generally yours to maintain. If it belongs to someone else, we can advise on how to approach the owner, and what you may cut back yourself.
Dudley Council can confirm if a Tree Preservation Order applies or if the property lies within a conservation area. We normally make that enquiry before anything is booked in, then tell you what we find and what it means for the work.
