Ward End has a pleasant mix of inter-war and later houses with medium-sized gardens, and the mature trees around Ward End Park give the area a green feel. Garden trees here can also grow large. We carry out tree surgery in Ward End, including thinning, reductions, deadwood removal and careful sectional removal when a tree has to come down.
If a tree is shading the garden, dropping branches or worrying you in the wind, we will take a look. You will get a clear opinion on what it needs, what can wait and what is not worth spending time on.

Gardens close to the park often share the shade and leaf fall of tall trees, whether or not they stand on your land. Roots, falling twigs and heavy canopies can all cause problems in Ward End. A tree that belongs to you is easier to deal with, because a reduction or thinning can bring light back without changing its character. That is a common situation for gardens in Ward End.
For trees that are not yours, such as council trees in or beside the park, we cannot simply cut them, and we would advise contacting the owner. On your own land we can look at what is worth keeping, what should be pruned and what has reached the end of its life, then explain the reasons. If you are not sure who owns a particular tree, we can help you work that out.

Typical Ward End gardens are big enough to work in, but a house, garage and fences usually stand between the tree and the road. That limits what can be driven in. We climb the tree and cut it down in sections, lowering each piece under control so lawns, beds and boundaries are not damaged, and so that neighbours are not troubled by anything falling.
For trees that only need tidying, we remove dead or crossing branches, lift low growth and shorten the limbs overhanging the roof. Material is chipped or cut up and loaded onto our vehicle, so you do not need to hire a skip or arrange a collection of green waste yourself. Where houses sit in rows, a tidy finish matters to the whole street.
Before cutting in Ward End we ask the council whether a Tree Preservation Order or conservation area applies, because that decides what is allowed. We also check for nesting birds, which are common in mature trees near open green space, and for overhead cables and neighbours. After the work, the garden is cleared and left tidy. We also cover Washwood Heath, Stechford and Hodge Hill.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

No, you should not cut a tree you do not own. Contact whoever is responsible for it, usually the council for park trees, and report your concern. We can only prune trees on your own land or those you have permission to work on.
We cut back to suitable side branches instead of lopping the tops flat, so the tree keeps a natural shape and recovers sensibly. We take off only as much as it can cope with. Often a light thin gives all the extra light you need.
Please mention it when you ask for a visit. We can cut a tree down to a low stump, and the stump can be dealt with separately, depending on access and what you plan to do with the space afterwards. We will explain the options.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
