Northfield is full of family houses with sizeable gardens, and many of those gardens have a lawn that is too wet to use for half the year. A patio fixes that. We build new patios, paths and paved areas across B31 that give you a firm, clean place to sit, play and cook outside.
We will talk through how the household uses the garden, from children's toys to barbecue evenings, and suggest a size and layout to match. Then we agree the material and the plan with you before we dig. No surprises.

Families in Northfield put paving through a lot. Bikes, football, garden furniture and wet dogs all take their toll, so the surface and the base underneath both need to be tough. We lay a compacted sub-base and set the paving carefully on top, so it stays flat and does not rock when it is walked on. It is the base that you are really paying for.
Porcelain is a popular choice in Northfield because it wipes clean and shrugs off stains from barbecues and muddy boots. Sandstone-look paving is a good alternative if you prefer something more natural, and we can combine the two across a patio and a path if you want to. Ask us to show you how each of them wears over time. Then you can pick.

Gardens here often have conifers and hedges along the boundaries, and they influence where a patio should go. Dense shade at the far end can stay damp, while the area nearest the house may get the sun. We usually suggest putting seating where the light is strongest and shaping the paving around the planting. That small change makes the finished space feel a good deal more comfortable.
If a conifer is dropping needles across your plan, or a hedge has grown too wide, we can cut it back before we begin. That avoids damage to the new surface and gives us room to work. The waste, along with the old paving and spoil, goes with us afterwards. Northfield gardens often need this first step. Nothing is left behind. We leave the garden ready to use.
The gardens around Northfield and Victoria Common are not always flat, so we check levels before pegging out. The patio is laid with a gentle fall, away from the house and drains, so rain runs off. It is a simple detail that stops puddles, slippery patches and damp against the walls. We also cover Longbridge, Kings Norton, Rubery and Selly Oak.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

It will give you a hard, dry area to use, though the lawn itself needs its own care. A path from the house across to the garden can also keep boots clean in wet weather, and we can build that too.
Porcelain is easiest to clean and very hard-wearing, while sandstone-look paving has a softer, natural appearance. We bring samples and talk through upkeep, so you can pick the one that suits your family and your house. We are glad to explain either.
Often we can, though the tree needs thought. We avoid disturbing major roots, keep the paving a sensible distance from the trunk and can trim the conifer first. If it is simply too close, we will say so.
