Harborne has some generous gardens, and a good number of them are crying out for a proper place to sit. We build new patios, paths and paved areas for homes across B17, from Victorian houses near the High Street to inter-war family homes with long lawns. Each one is marked out, dug, built up and paved with care.
You might want a sunny terrace off the kitchen, a path that stays dry in winter, or a firm base for a table and chairs. Tell us how you use the garden and we will suggest a layout, a material and a sensible size to suit the house.

Many Harborne gardens have mature trees and tall boundary hedges, and that matters before a single slab goes down. Roots sit nearer the surface than most people expect, so we dig carefully, avoid cutting anything we do not need to, and shape the patio around the bigger roots wherever we reasonably can. It protects the tree and the paving. We talk it through with you first.
Shade changes the choice of paving too. A spot under a large tree stays damp and can grow algae, so we often favour a textured finish with a decent fall for water to run off. If a tree or hedge needs cutting back first, we can look after that as well, which saves you finding someone else. It also keeps leaf litter off the new surface.

The part you will never see is the part that matters most. We mark out the area, excavate to the right depth and lay a compacted sub-base, building it up in layers so the surface does not sink or rock after the first wet winter. Everything is then set with a gentle fall away from the house, so rain runs off rather than lying against the wall.
Once the paving is down, we point the joints, tidy the edges at walls, steps and borders, and make sure nothing sits proud to catch a foot. Whether you choose sandstone-look, porcelain or natural stone in Harborne, the process underneath stays the same, and the old paving and spoil leave with us when the job is finished. You get a clean, finished area.
Victorian and inter-war homes in Harborne often suit a calm, natural-looking surface rather than anything too shiny or bold. We will bring samples and talk through colour, size and pattern in your own light, because paving can look quite different on a sunny afternoon than it does in a showroom. We also cover Edgbaston, Bearwood and Quinton, so if you are close by, we are happy to come and look.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.

Usually yes, with care. We dig by hand near larger roots, avoid unnecessary cutting and keep the sub-base lighter around them. If a root is too important to disturb, we adjust the shape of the patio instead of forcing the original plan through.
Shady spots stay wet for longer, so we lay the surface with a fall for drainage and can suggest a textured paving that grips better underfoot. Regular sweeping helps keep algae down, and we are happy to explain simple upkeep once the work is finished.
Yes. Old slabs, broken concrete and the spoil from digging out are taken away as part of the job, so you are not left with a heap in the corner of the garden. We tidy up properly before we leave, and sweep the new surface.
