Handsworth has large Victorian houses and long terraces, many with big mature trees in the gardens. The fences have often been standing a long time and are showing it. We supply and fit close-board and panel fencing, replace rotten posts and broken panels, hang gates and carry the old fence away when we are done.
Some streets near Handsworth Park and the Soho area are conservation areas, which can affect boundaries and trees. We take that into account from the start. If you want advice on what suits your plot, ask. We also cover Perry Barr and Great Barr.

Gardens on Victorian streets often have boundaries that have been patched many times: a few new panels here, a leaning post held up with a brace there. Eventually it is less effort overall to start again. We strip back to the line, remove everything that has failed and build a consistent fence along the whole run, with posts at even spacing and a level top line.
That fresh start also helps with ownership. Old Handsworth terraces sometimes have unclear boundaries, with a fence that has moved or been rebuilt in a different place. Before we set posts, we agree the line with you and the neighbours, so that the new fence goes exactly where everyone accepts the boundary should be, which prevents arguments once the work is done.

Handsworth's mature trees are a real feature, but their roots run under many boundaries. Digging post holes beside a large tree can cut roots that hold it up. We position posts to avoid the main ones, adjusting spacing slightly if needed, and we do not dig where it could harm a healthy tree. Sometimes that means a slightly wider gap between two posts at that spot.
Branches overhanging the fence are another issue, since they drop leaves, drip sap and press on panels. We can lift or trim them back to give the fence room, as long as the tree is not protected. Where it is, check with the council before any tree work, and we will build around what you are allowed to do, even if that means leaving a tree untouched.
If your Handsworth home sits in a conservation area, ask the council about height and style before you order a new fence, especially at the front. Terraces share boundaries, so agree the work with your neighbours too. Once the rules and the line are settled, we can build the fence and clear the old one away cleanly, leaving the garden tidy and the boundary in good order.

Yes. We remove the old panels, posts and braces and build one consistent fence along the line. It usually looks better and lasts longer than repeated patching, and it removes all the old materials from the garden in one go.
We position posts away from the main roots and may adjust the spacing slightly around the tree. If the tree needs trimming, we can do that carefully, provided it is not protected. If it is protected, check with the council first.
It depends on your deeds and the history of the boundary, and it is not always clear. A conversation with your neighbour usually settles it. We can replace a fence that is yours, or one you agree to share.
