Across Walsall you find terraces, inter-war semis and later estates, usually with gardens that have a mix of lawn, old paths and a few mature trees. We build patios, paths and paved areas that suit each of those, laying a solid base, setting the paving to drain and finishing the edges so the result looks tidy from the kitchen window.
We talk through how you use the garden, agree the size, shape and materials, then dig out, build the base, lay the paving and point the joints. Old surfacing and spoil are taken away at the end of the work.

A typical inter-war semi in Walsall has a back garden of reasonable depth, with a path running down the side and perhaps a worn patio at the back door. This is a good set-up for a rebuilt terrace. We often widen the paved area to suit a table, tie it into the side path with matching materials and square it off against the house wall.
The ground around these houses can vary, so we check it as we dig. Where we find soft spots, old rubble or made-up ground we remove it and rebuild with a compacted sub-base, because a base laid over poor ground is where cracking and sinking start. It is slower work, but it is the part that decides how well the patio lasts.

Mature garden trees are a feature around Walsall, and they shape how a patio is planned. Roots near the surface influence where we dig and how deep, and branches overhead mean leaves, sap and shade. We adjust the layout where we need to rather than cut through major roots, and we say so honestly if a spot is a poor choice for paving. Sometimes moving the patio a metre or two makes all the difference.
Shaded paving can turn green and slippery, so material choice matters. Textured sandstone-look slabs grip well when damp, and porcelain is dense and easy to wash. Natural stone looks traditional but needs more upkeep. We can place samples on your garden before you decide, which is far more reliable than judging a small swatch. Seeing a few slabs beside your own brick and fence shows how the colour sits in your light.
If you are thinking about a new patio in Walsall, give us the address, a rough idea of the size and what you want to use it for. We will look at levels, access and drainage and suggest a layout. We also work in Bloxwich, Willenhall, Aldridge, Darlaston and Pelsall. Once finished, we sweep up and take away all the waste.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

Often yes. We can widen or reshape it, but matching old and new paving is hard, so many people replace the whole area. We look at the existing base and advise whether it can be reused or should be rebuilt.
We dig it out and replace it with a compacted sub-base laid in layers. Building over poor ground leads to sinking slabs, so this stage is worth doing properly. We explain what we find as the work goes on.
They can on smooth surfaces. Textured sandstone-look slabs and certain porcelain finishes give better grip, and sweeping leaves away helps. We can recommend a surface for a shaded spot and explain how to keep it clean, including when a wash or a stiff brush is needed.
