Tipton's terraced streets and inter-war estates mostly come with small to medium gardens, so a patio has to earn its space. We build paved areas that are flat, well drained and sized to suit the plot, whether you want a spot for a table, a clear route to the shed or a tidy replacement for worn, uneven concrete.
We start by talking through how you use the garden, then agree a layout and materials. We dig out, build a compacted base, lay the paving with a slight fall and finish the joints and edges. We remove old paving and spoil.

A lot of gardens in Tipton still have the original concrete or old slabs that have sunk, cracked or tilted towards the house. Laying new paving over that rarely works, because whatever is moving underneath keeps moving. We lift the old surface, remove soft or poor ground and rebuild with a compacted sub-base, so the new patio stays level. Many Tipton terraces have a step down from the back door, and we can keep or rework it.
Taking out a hard old surface is heavy work and leaves a lot of rubble, so we plan how it leaves the garden before we start. Once the ground is clear we can often reshape the area, perhaps making the patio a little wider, squaring up an awkward corner or adding a short path to the gate, as well as simply replacing what was there.

When a garden is only a few metres across, small decisions matter. A patio set a little off the back wall leaves a planting strip, while one that runs the full width gives a clean, simple line. A short path to a gate or shed helps keep feet off the grass. We mark out options on the ground so you can stand in them before deciding.
Porcelain gives a crisp, contemporary finish on a small area, and sandstone-look slabs have a warmer, more natural tone against brick. We cut neatly around drain covers, walls and borders in your Tipton garden, and point the joints so weeds are less likely to take hold. Edges are finished so the paving meets the lawn without a trip hazard. Small Tipton gardens suit a single material throughout, which keeps the area calm and uncluttered.
Tipton has plenty of canal heritage, and some gardens back onto towpaths or lower ground where water can gather. We check where rain naturally runs in your garden before setting the fall, so the new Tipton patio drains away from the house and any lower corner. We also cover Dudley, West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Coseley and Great Bridge, and clear all waste after the work.

Usually yes. Paving laid over cracked or sunken concrete tends to follow its movement. Taking the old surface out lets us rebuild a firm, level base, and gives the chance to improve the shape and drainage at the same time.
Big enough for the table and chairs you want, plus room to move around them. We can mark out sizes on the ground so you can try them. Leaving a border or lawn strip often makes a small garden feel larger.
Properly filled and pointed joints leave little room for seeds to settle, and a firm base stops slabs rocking and opening gaps. Brushing the surface occasionally helps. We explain simple upkeep for your chosen material once the patio is finished, including how to deal with moss on shaded edges.
