With the Clent and Lickey hills close by, Halesowen gardens rarely sit flat. Typical inter-war semis and later estates have lawns that fall away from the house, and the back door often opens straight onto a slope. We build patios, paths and paved areas that give you level ground exactly where you need it.
Our approach is to look at the slope with you, agree a layout and then build it properly: excavation, a compacted sub-base, paving with a fall for drainage and neat edges. Steps are added where levels change, and we take the old surface and spoil away.

The most useful place for a patio is usually just outside the back door, and in Halesowen that is often where the garden begins to drop. We can cut a level terrace into the bank, or build out from the house with a supported edge. Either way you gain a flat spot for a table and chairs without the furniture tipping. We mark it out first.
From there, steps and a short path can carry you down to the rest of the garden. An inter-war semi often has a long, sloping plot, and a stepped route makes it far easier to use, especially in wet weather. We cut each step evenly and give it a slight fall so water does not stand. A handrail can be fitted if you want one.

Halesowen gardens often have mature trees, and some roads lie in conservation areas. We keep digging clear of important roots and take care with levels near trunks. Shade from big trees can leave paving damp and green, so we suggest surfaces that clean easily and get as much light as the garden offers. In Halesowen this makes a real difference to how long the surface stays dry.
Sandstone-look paving, porcelain and natural stone all suit local houses, and we explain how each copes with moss, frost and leaf fall. Under any of them goes the same firm base. Joints are pointed, edges against walls and borders are finished cleanly, and water is directed away from the house and neighbouring boundaries. We clear the old surface first. Any steps are cut to match the paving.
Steep drives and narrow side passages are common in Halesowen, so we plan how paving and sub-base reach the garden, using barrows where a vehicle cannot get close. We also cover Cradley Heath, Hasbury and Quinton, so tell us your area and we will talk through what could suit your garden. Everything is cleared when we are done.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

Yes. We either cut a terrace into the bank or build out with a supported edge, depending on your garden. The result is a flat area for furniture, with a slight fall for drainage so rain does not stand on it.
On most sloping gardens, yes. A few evenly cut steps make the route safe and let you use the whole garden in wet weather. We build them from the same material as the patio so they match. Handrails are possible.
It does. We keep digging away from major roots and set the levels carefully around trunks. We also choose surfaces that cope with shade and leaf fall, and we tell you if a position is likely to cause trouble.
