A good patio turns the first few metres of garden behind the house into a proper outdoor room. In Acocks Green, where many inter-war semis and terraces have deep back gardens, we build new patios, paths and paved areas that sit level, drain well and look neat against the house wall. We mark out the shape with you before any digging starts.
Some customers want a large terrace for dining and a barbecue, others only a small paved spot beside a shed. Both get the same careful base work. We are based in Hall Green, close by, and we take the old surface and spoil away when we finish, so you are left with a clean, usable garden.

Plots around the Warwick Road in Acocks Green are often longer than they are wide. That gives us room to place a paved area close to the back door and keep the rest of the garden for lawn and planting, or to run a path down the side so you are not crossing wet grass in winter. We talk through where the sun lands and where the table will sit before settling the size and position.
Many gardens here have mature trees, conifers and tall hedges at the boundary. Their roots and shade affect where a patio should go and how deep we dig, so we look at them first. If roots are close to the surface we adjust the layout rather than cut through anything important, and we tell you plainly if a tree or hedge would cause trouble later.

The part you do not see matters most. We mark out, excavate to a sound depth and lay a compacted sub-base before the paving goes down. The surface is set with a slight fall away from the house, so rain runs off to the lawn or a border instead of pooling by the back door. Poor drainage is the usual reason a patio fails, so we never skip this step.
You can choose from sandstone-look paving, porcelain or natural stone, and we will explain how each wears and how easily it cleans. Joints are pointed neatly and the edges are finished cleanly where the paving meets walls, steps and borders. In Acocks Green we often replace cracked concrete, so we break it out, load it and take the rubble away with the rest of the spoil.
Access in Acocks Green can be tight, with narrow side passages and little room at the front for materials. We plan deliveries and barrow loads to suit, keep the route clear where we can and sweep up as we go. We also cover Hall Green, Yardley and Solihull, so if you are nearby, ask and we can talk through your garden before any work begins.

Yes, long thin plots are very common here. We usually place the paved area near the house and keep the length for lawn or borders, or add a path along one side. We mark it out on the ground first so you can see the shape before we dig.
Yes. Breaking out old concrete or cracked paving is a regular part of the job in Acocks Green. We load the rubble and spoil and take it away, then prepare the ground properly so the new patio is not laid over a weak, uneven surface.
Shade from conifers and tall hedges is common in Acocks Green, and shaded paving can turn green and slippery. Porcelain tends to resist that and wipes clean easily, while sandstone-look paving also works well. We show you samples and explain upkeep so you choose with the facts.
