If your garden in Kings Heath is a muddy lawn, a tired concrete slab or a cracked old patio, we can sort it. We build new patios, paths and paved areas for the Victorian and Edwardian terraces and inter-war semis around the High Street and Highbury Park, shaping each job to the space you actually have.
Often the garden is long and narrow, or hemmed in by a garage and a conifer. That is fine. We measure carefully, suggest a layout that makes the most of the width, and explain each stage before we start.

Terraced gardens in Kings Heath can be tight, so every square metre counts. A patio close to the back door gives you an easy step outside, while a second small paved area further down the garden can catch the evening sun. We will help you decide where seating suits and how a path should connect it all together. There is usually a good answer.
Narrow plots also bring tricky access. Everything may have to come through the house, so we protect floors, work tidily and bring materials in manageable stages. Spoil from the dig leaves the same way, and old paving goes with it, so the garden is ready to enjoy as soon as we finish. If a neighbour shares the passage, we keep it clear and courteous.

A patio is only as good as its foundations. We excavate, compact a sub-base and set the paving on a bed with a slight fall so water runs away from the house wall instead of pooling against it. Skipping that stage is how patios end up uneven within a season or two, and it is the part we never rush. Done properly, it simply lasts.
Edges and joints get the same attention. We cut neatly around drain covers, steps and borders, point the joints so they stay firm, and check levels as we go. In Kings Heath, where garden walls are often old, we take extra care at the boundary so nothing is disturbed. A tidy finish at the wall matters as much as the middle of the patio.
Many Kings Heath gardens have tall conifers and garden trees, and shade changes how a patio behaves. Damp spots call for a textured finish, and overhanging branches may need trimming first, which we can arrange as part of the same visit. We also cover Moseley, Hall Green and Cotteridge, so please get in touch if you are in a neighbouring area.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

Less than you might think. A comfortable table and four chairs need only a modest square, and a small patio can still feel generous if the layout is right. We will mark out a few options on the ground so you can judge for yourself.
Sometimes, but we usually prefer to lift it. Old concrete can be uneven or badly drained, and that shows through new paving. We will look at its condition and tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping or better replaced.
We lay the paving with a gentle fall away from the building and set the levels below the damp course. Joints and edges are finished to carry water out into the garden or to a drain, never against the wall.
