Worcester gardens benefit from the Severn, the river meadows and plenty of mature trees, but that setting brings its own lawn issues, from damp ground to dense shade. We lay turf, fit artificial grass, renovate tired lawns and cut clean edges for period houses and large suburban plots, adapting the method to the soil and the light.
If your lawn is waterlogged, mossy or patchy under the trees, we will look at what is actually causing it and explain which fix makes sense for your garden, whether that is repair, new turf or something else.

Gardens near the Severn and the river meadows around Worcester can have a high water table, and heavy ground that stays wet long after rain. Turf laid straight on that kind of soil often turns patchy, and moss moves in quickly. The first job is to understand where the water goes and whether the garden is likely to be soggy in winter.
We might loosen the soil, add a free-draining layer and shape the surface with a gentle fall before laying anything. In the wettest gardens, artificial grass over a properly drained base can be more reliable than natural turf. Either way we tell you plainly what we found and what would work, so there are no surprises for you later on, once the work is done.

Period houses and larger suburban plots in Worcester often come with a big lawn, mature borders and old trees. A lawn this size shows up every hollow, bare patch and drifted edge. Renovation, with scarifying, levelling and overseeding, is often enough, and it avoids the disruption and mess of stripping a whole lawn that still has plenty of life left in it.
Where a lawn really has gone, we strip it in sections, prepare the soil and lay new turf with tight, staggered joints. Edges are re-cut along borders and paths, and we are careful not to damage plants or roots in the borders. A large lawn should look like one even surface, not a patchwork of repairs, and that comes down to preparation.
River willows and other mature trees add a lot to Worcester, but they shade lawns and drop leaves across them. In conservation areas a neat, traditional lawn is part of the street scene, so we keep the finish restrained. We also cover Droitwich, Powick and Kempsey, so if you are nearby and need a lawn sorted, get in touch.

Possibly, but the drainage has to be right. We assess the ground, and may add a free-draining layer or suggest artificial grass over a built-up base. If water regularly stands for long periods, we will tell you honestly what is realistic.
If the grass is thick enough to keep, renovation is usually less disruptive: scarify, level, repair and overseed. If it is mostly weed, moss or bare soil, stripping and relaying on prepared ground gives a more even lawn in the end.
In light shade, with the right seed mix and some care, it can. Under dense canopy or around big roots it often will not. We look at the tree and the light and suggest options, including borders and artificial grass where grass cannot cope.
