Cradley Heath is built on a hillside, and plenty of its gardens slope with it. Terraces and twentieth century estates here often come with steep or stepped back gardens, and that makes preparing the ground the most important part of any lawn job. We turf, repair, scarify, level, edge and lay artificial grass.
We will look at how your garden falls, where the water goes and how much sun the grass really gets, and then tell you honestly whether renovation, new turf or artificial grass makes sense. If the lawn can be saved, we say so.

On a hillside plot, rain does not soak in evenly. It runs down the slope, carrying soil and seed with it, and pools wherever the ground flattens out. In Cradley Heath we often see lawns that are bone dry at the top and boggy at the foot of the garden. Left alone, the lawn never settles, because every heavy shower moves the surface a little further.
Our answer is to shape the ground before laying anything. We create smoother gradients, fill hollows and make sure surface water has a sensible route away from the house. Turf laid afterwards has a stable surface to root into rather than a slope that sheds everything it is given. On stepped plots we can also form level lawn areas divided by a defined edge, which makes the garden much easier to use.

Terraced houses in Cradley Heath tend to have compact gardens, sometimes reached only through the house or a narrow shared passage. We plan for that, carrying turf, soil and materials by hand when needed, and removing the old lawn without making a mess of the property. Small gardens tend to be used hard, so durability and drainage both matter, and shady walls make both harder.
In a small garden every flaw shows, so we take extra care over levels and joints. If the space is shaded by walls or fences, artificial grass laid on a compacted, levelled base with edging and weed membrane is often easier to live with than a lawn that keeps failing. Either choice starts the same way, with a firm, level and clean base underneath.
Gardens close to the canal and green corridors around Cradley Heath often see more leaf fall, damp and creeping growth along their edges. Sharp edging helps keep grass, beds and paths separate and makes upkeep simpler. We also cover Old Hill and Lye, so let us know if you are nearby. That stops grass creeping into paths and keeps small gardens looking sharp.

Usually we can improve it. We cut and fill to ease the gradient, create a flatter area where it matters and make sure water drains away. Very steep ground may need a different approach, which we would explain after seeing the garden.
It depends on light and use. A sunny garden suits turf well. A shaded, heavily used yard often does better with artificial grass over a firm, levelled base. We will give you a straight answer once we have seen the space.
Yes. We carry materials through the house or along the shared route, protect floors and doorways, and clear the old lawn the same way. It takes more handling, but it is a normal part of working in terraced streets.
