Plenty of homes in Ward End have trees that were planted when the estates were new, and some sit under the shade of bigger park trees nearby. Over time they can crowd the house or the fence line. We prune them back into good shape, removing dead wood and thinning the crown so more light gets through.
We handle fruit trees, ornamentals, conifers and mature garden trees. Before we cut anything, we explain what needs doing and what we would leave, so you always know what the tree will look like afterwards. Everything is cleared away when we finish.

The inter-war and later houses around Ward End usually come with medium-sized gardens, which suits a decent tree or two. The trouble starts when a tree outgrows its corner. Limbs lean on the roofline, the lawn turns to moss under the shade and leaves fill the gutters every autumn. Pruning solves most of this without losing the tree. We take care around fences, sheds and the neighbours on either side.
We reduce overextended branches, thin overlapping growth and lift low limbs so the garden is usable again. The result keeps the tree's character. Done well, you notice the extra light and the neater shape, but you would not guess a lot had been taken off. Rear gardens that were once sunny can feel open again, and the lawn tends to improve once it gets daylight.

Ward End Park and its mature trees shape the feel of the area, and many gardens nearby carry a few big trees of their own. Where those trees lean toward the house, we take weight off the heavy side. Where roots or shade are a problem, we explain what pruning can fix and what it cannot. Park trees are not ours to touch, but we can often reduce the shade they cast by pruning your own tree thoughtfully.
Not every tree needs the saw. Sometimes a light tidy is enough, just removing dead twigs and a few awkward branches. We would rather tell you that than do more than is sensible, and you will hear the plan and agree it before we start. A simple tidy often leaves the tree healthier, and keeps the work in proportion to what the tree truly needs.
Ward End has its share of conifers, and these need careful handling, because they do not regrow from bare brown wood. We shape them within the green. Fruit trees are pruned at the season that suits them, and we check for nesting birds on every job. We also cover Washwood Heath, Alum Rock and Stechford. Let us know what your Ward End tree is up to.

Yes, provided we cut only into living green foliage. Conifers do not regrow from old bare wood, so we stop before reaching it. We will check how much green there is and tell you how far we can safely go.
It varies with the species and how fast it grows. Many trees do well with a light tidy every few seasons, while fast growers need more attention. We can suggest a sensible routine once we have seen yours.
Yes, we take all the green waste away and sweep up afterwards. If you want the timber for logs or a wildlife pile, tell us before we start and we will leave it neatly stacked. Chipped material can be left as mulch if you prefer it.
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will get back to you to arrange a visit and a free, no-obligation quote. Photos sent on WhatsApp help.
