Small Heath is mostly Victorian terraces and inter-war streets, and the back gardens are small and narrow. In a garden like that, a tree is never a minor matter. When it grows too large it blocks the light, drops leaves into gutters and leans on fences. We carry out tree pruning in Small Heath to keep trees manageable.
We shape garden trees, fruit trees and ornamental trees, remove dead wood and thin the crown so more daylight reaches the house. The work is done carefully, with clean cuts, and we leave your yard clear of branches.

A narrow garden gives little room for dropping branches, so we do not drop them. We climb the tree, cut each limb in small sections and lower it on a rope, which keeps fences, sheds and neighbours' plants safe. Where the only way out is through the house, we protect the floors and carry the waste out in careful loads. It makes a real difference in a small yard.
We discuss access with you before we start, because it affects how we plan the job. In many Small Heath gardens a tree has been left for a long time, so the first prune is more involved. After that, small regular visits keep it in check and reduce the work needed each time. Light, regular work is far kinder to the tree and to the budget of your time.

A tree in a small garden is often the main source of privacy and shade, so we are careful not to strip it bare. Crown thinning lets light through without opening a view into your windows, and reduction shortens the spread while leaving a full, natural outline that still screens the neighbours. That balance between light and privacy is the heart of pruning in a tight Small Heath garden.
Trees near Small Heath Park and along the streets often belong to the council. Those are not ours to prune and are not something you can cut yourself, so check who owns the tree first. For trees in your own garden, we can advise on timing, and we avoid the nesting season for any larger work. Where a tree is not yours to prune, we will say so plainly.
Tell us which tree is the problem and how we can get to it. We will visit, agree the plan and carry out the work. We also cover Sparkhill, Tyseley and Bordesley Green, so if you are anywhere around Small Heath, it is easy for us to call and see the tree. We will explain everything clearly. Just ask.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.
Call, or send photos on WhatsApp, and we will come back to you.

Yes. We take the equipment through the house, climb the tree and lower the pieces down on ropes, then carry the waste back out the same way. We lay protection down and keep the route tidy throughout the job.
Street trees are normally looked after by the council, so contact them if one is causing a problem. We can only prune trees that belong to you, or that the owner has given us permission to work on.
It should not. We thin and shorten selectively so the tree keeps a full natural shape. The idea is to reduce the size and let in light, not to strip the branches, which would leave it ugly and slow to recover.
