From period homes close to the town centre to larger properties on the village edge, Bromsgrove gardens often hold trees that have been growing for decades. Our tree pruning in Bromsgrove helps keep those trees healthy and in proportion, with clean cuts, sensible reductions and the removal of deadwood or branches that rub.
We aim to leave a tree that still looks like itself. Before we begin we will talk through which branches need to go, why, and what the tree will look like afterwards, so that the work matches what you wanted.

Mature gardens around Bromsgrove often include old fruit trees, ornamental specimens and larger trees close to buildings. Older trees do not respond well to heavy cutting, so we favour a few well chosen cuts that thin the crown and relieve weight. This keeps their natural character while reducing the chance of heavy limbs coming down in bad weather. Timber from old trees can be dense, so we take our time.
Deadwood removal is a routine but valuable part of the job. Dead branches are brittle and can drop without warning, so taking them out makes the garden safer to use. We also look for signs of disease or damage as we work, and mention anything you should keep an eye on, so there are no surprises later on. Catching a problem early is far easier than repairing it later.

Near the Lickey Hills the line between garden and countryside is soft, and many Bromsgrove properties end in tall hedges or a row of trees. Left alone these grow upward and thin at the bottom. Pruning on a regular cycle keeps the base full, the top level and the boundary doing its job as a screen. Doing so each year or two is easier than rescuing a hedge once it has run wild.
Where the boundary is conifer, we cut back only within the green, since bare brown wood will not regrow. We would rather leave a conifer slightly larger than you hoped than cut it into a permanent gap. If a row has gone too far, we will go through the options with you, including replacement. Replacement is not always needed, and many hedges can be thickened up by gentle pruning.
Winter is the usual time for pruning many trees, though the right month depends on the species, and we avoid disturbing nesting birds in spring. In a Bromsgrove conservation area or where a tree has a protection order, the council must hear first, so check before booking. We also cover Catshill, Barnt Green and Alvechurch. Ask us which month suits your own tree.

Yes, if it is done gently. We remove dead, crossing and crowded branches over a couple of seasons rather than all at once, so the tree is not shocked. This lets light into the fruiting wood and keeps the tree's structure sound.
Not always. Many deciduous hedges recover well from firm cutting, but conifer hedges do not regrow from brown wood. We check what is alive inside the hedge first and then agree how far it can safely go. Hedges that have gone woody can sometimes be rejuvenated over two seasons.
Yes, we clear the branches and leave the garden tidy. If you would like some of the logs or chippings kept for your own use, tell us beforehand and we will leave them where you want them. Chippings can often be left as mulch for borders and paths.
