Large detached homes, leafy roads and mature trees give ivy plenty of room in Solihull. A wall can look green and attractive from the road while the stems are working into the brickwork underneath. We remove ivy from houses, boundary walls, fences, outbuildings, hedges and trees all around Solihull, with the cut growth taken away.
Ivy is sometimes kept on purpose. If you like it on part of a wall but want it off the windows, gutters and roofline, we can cut it back to a line rather than strip everything. Tell us what you want to keep and we will work to that.

On a big Solihull house, ivy can reach windows, soffits and the underside of the roof. We deal with what can be reached safely from the ground, cutting stems at the base and removing the lower growth. High growth beyond safe reach is left to die and drop, rather than risk someone on a ladder, and we tell you where the limit is. Windows get particular attention, because ivy can wedge in frames.
Long boundary walls are a different matter. They can run the whole width of a front garden, with ivy along the top and over the coping. We work along the wall in lengths, cutting low, letting the growth die and peeling it off carefully. A coping or brick cap that moves is pointed out so it can be made safe. Safety matters more than speed here.

Solihull has many roads with tall hedges and mature trees, and parts of the town lie within conservation areas. Removing ivy from a wall is normally simple. Work to a protected tree is different, and you may need to give the council notice before anyone cuts into it. Taking ivy stems off the base of a trunk is light work, but check first if the tree matters.
On a tall hedge the ivy can form a heavy second skin. We cut it at the base, then take away what we can without stripping the hedge. Thick, old ivy sometimes leaves a hedge bare beneath. Ivy can hide gaps and dead patches too. We will say if that is likely, and you can then decide on trimming or replanting, with the benefit of seeing the hedge as it really is.
Large Solihull gardens give birds plenty of cover, so we look for nests in hedges and trees before we cut. If one is in use, that section waits. Everything we cut is collected and taken off site. We also cover Shirley, Knowle and Dorridge, and we are glad to look at larger properties with several areas to clear. A walk round first helps us plan the order of work.

From our base in Hall Green we work across Birmingham, the Black Country, Solihull and parts of Worcestershire. Choose your area.
It depends on the wall. On sound, well-pointed brick, ivy may do little harm. On weak mortar, old render or near windows and gutters, it can cause problems. We can remove it all, or cut it back from vulnerable areas and leave the rest. It is your choice.
We agree with you beforehand which plants are staying. Shrubs and climbers are tied back or shielded as far as possible, and we cut the ivy so it falls away from the border rather than onto it. Anything delicate near the wall may still be at risk, so tell us what is precious before we begin.
We can clear ivy around ground-floor windows and anything we can reach safely from the ground. Ivy growing across upstairs windows, gutters or the roof edge may be beyond a safe ground reach, and we say so plainly. Working at height is not something we do casually.
