Dudley is one of the hillier towns in the Black Country, with older terraces, 20th century estates and pockets of wooded ground. Trees on sloping gardens often grow low branches that overhang paths and steps or press against the side of a house. Crown lifting removes those lowest limbs so the canopy sits higher and the ground beneath it is usable again.
We make clean cuts and take only what is needed, so the tree stays healthy and balanced. Preservation orders and conservation areas are checked before we start work. If a lift is not the right answer for your tree, we say so rather than cutting for the sake of it.

Many Dudley gardens run uphill or downhill from the house, and some have steep, narrow access which makes the work more awkward. We plan before we climb, deciding where branches will go and how to bring them down safely, and we use ropes on heavier limbs so they do not swing or roll into someone else's garden. Steep ground can make even a short branch awkward to deal with.
That planning also affects how much we lift. On a slope, a small change in cutting height can make a big difference to clearance at one side of the tree, so we look at it from above and below. The result is a tree with real headroom where you walk and use the garden. A little care at this stage saves a lot of trouble.

Parts of Dudley sit on wooded limestone ground, where trees have grown thick and tall. Older terraces nearby tend to have narrow plots with trees close to the house. In both cases, low branches can quickly crowd windows and roofs, and they may block light to the rooms that need it most. On narrow plots even a small branch can feel very close.
A crown lift reduces that contact without altering how the tree looks from the road. We choose cuts that heal well, keep the top of the tree intact and leave a good spread of foliage. Where the roots are shallow on thin ground, we are particularly careful to avoid putting the tree under more strain than necessary. The tree is then easier to live with year after year.
Before work begins we check the tree for weak branches and look up any protection that applies. Dudley has a number of conservation areas, so this matters. After the lift, we clear the cuttings away. We also cover Brierley Hill and Netherton, and the same checks apply to every crown lifting job we do in Dudley. Nothing is left hanging.
Based in Hall Green, so we are never far from the gardens we work in.
We look at the job before we price it, so you know what is involved.
Branches, clippings and rubbish from our jobs are cleared and the garden left tidy.

Yes, with proper planning. We work out where branches will land, lower heavy ones on ropes and protect walls, steps and neighbouring ground. Slopes need more thought than flat gardens, but the lift itself is still straightforward. We tidy up afterwards.
Often. If low branches are rubbing the roof or gutters, lifting removes them and gives clearance. If the tree is simply too close to the house, we may suggest other pruning as well, and we will explain the options.
Not always. We need to agree the work and access beforehand, and you may want to be present at the start or end. If the tree is in the back garden and we can reach it, we can usually get on with it.
