This page shows a selection of tree surgery jobs in Kidderminster. The main one is a tall conifer in a back garden, which is climbed and taken down from the top. Another photo shows a front garden where a stump sits at the edge of a gravel drive, with a conifer still standing beside it.

Climbing and cutting from the top

The tree in the second and third photos is far taller than the surrounding garden trees, with a birch, a flowering tree and shrubs all around it. A climber works up the trunk with a rope and saw, removing the crown and then the stem in sections. By the third photo, the lower branches are gone and the climber is standing near the top.

Working from the top keeps each piece small enough to control, which matters when so much planting sits close to the base of the tree. Each section is lowered or placed in a clear spot, rather than being allowed to drop into the beds. Keeping the pieces short also protects the lawn, the fence and the nearby trees from knocks and scrapes.

The tidy-up afterwards

The fourth photo shows the garden afterwards, with two large logs, a low stump and a pile of thin branches on the soil. The shrubs and nearby trees are still standing. Brash from the top of a conifer is bulky, so it takes up a surprising amount of space in a garden this size.

The first photo is from the front of a house, showing a stump beside a block-paved drive and the pavement. Before any tree is cut, it is worth checking with the council about protection orders and conservation areas, and neighbours should be told if the work will affect them. Leaving a low stump is often the simplest finish, and the owner can decide later about grinding it out.
