In Hall Green we worked on a large tree with several stems, growing in a back garden beside a shed and a run of panel fences. The canopy spreads well beyond the boundary and over neighbouring gardens. These photos were taken while the job was under way, so you can see the ladder in place and cut growth already on the ground.
Working above a shed and fences
A tree that sits right next to a garage, shed or fence needs care. Falling branches can easily damage the roof or panels, so limbs are cut in sections and lowered rather than dropped. A ladder gives access to the lower stems, while ropes are used higher up. Where a tree has several stems growing from one base, each one has to be assessed separately before a saw touches it.
What to plan for
The photos show a job in progress rather than a finished garden. Fuel cans and work clothing sit on the lawn near the fence, and a pile of leafy cuttings lies in front of the shed. Larger trees like this call for space for the cuttings, clear access for the crew and a quick word with neighbours whose gardens border the tree.
